2nd class bending

well firebending has lightningbending
earthbending has metalbending and sandbending
waterbending has icebending and Bloodbending
what would airbending have? shadowbending maybe? would be cool... Very Happy

k u are right on that one, but i still dont see shadow bending hapen.
well not in avater, i know Shikamaru in Naruto can do cool things with shadow but aang no! well it woud be cool if Aang knows how to do a Rasengan or a fire bender can do a chidorie sorry just saw a naruto episode.

well airbending is not that cool, wel how can u be killt by air?
fire will burn u.
water can freeze u.
and earth can hurt u wery bad or put someone underground.
and air well ya it can push someone on the ground. or trow him in the air so i drop death on the ground :S

maby air has the power to do psychik bending, sorry i was thinging about pokemon why i was thinking that i dont hell know

If you think about it. All second class bending derives from the first:
Lightning is basically a bolt of pure heat
Blood is a liquid like water
Metal comes from the earth
Looking at these, could anyone think that Aang's 2nd class of air bending would be Sound bending?
Sound can kill people at a high enough decibel

I just don't see why they make air bending seem as weak as it is, I mean highly focused air has the power to cut through anything, and is more dangerous because it is invariably made up of some amount of particulate which just becomes a further more dangerous projectile. Air is also what causes Tornadoes and Hurricanes.

thats also why weather bending makes a lot of sense in that you could create powerful storms through the use of bending hot and cold air together, its the basic idea behind all storms really.

First of all, shadow bending just doesn't make sense... PERIOD.

Second, as far as weather bending goes, it probably is possible but requires many airbenders to accomplish, except for the avatar state which Aang can't use anyway. Not to mention the fact that screwing with the weather is just all around NOT a good idea. And climate is the pattern of weather in an area over a long period of time so unless the airbenders are gonna stand there and bend for awhile I seriously doubt that its a possibility.

Third, airbending only seems weak because Aang, who never actually mastered the art, is the only person you ever see using it, whereas with earthbending you have Toph, firebending has Azula, etc. Now if you go find yourself a TRUE airbending master or wait for Aang to grow up a little and start using some real airbending techniques instead of his usually childish and showoffish antics, I'm sure you'll see airbending has alot more to offer. Also, any airbender could beat about any firebender (or anybody else for that matter) by just making a vacuum and sucking out all the air, no oxygen means no fire and no breathing, then wait for the opponent to either passout or die of asphyxiation. Of course the opponent may try to fight back with whatever other bending or weapon they have before that happens.

Fourth, any element can have catastrophic power in massive quantities (tornadoes, wildfires, earthquakes, and tsunamis, etc.) but the beauty of Avatar is the bending is both limited to and controlled by the martial arts making it much more controlled, toning down the destruction factor and making the fight scenes so much more enjoyable.

Oh and did I mention shadowbending just doesn't make sense... but they'll probably find a way to throw it in there as a nonbending art sorta like Combustion Man.

I just had a thought. If you think of Mustang of FMA, all he did was make pockets of pure oxygen then he made the spark with his glove and BOOM! If an airbender could somehow seperate the individual gasses in the air as the 2nd level bending then Aang could just make a big pocket of pure oxygen and, say, Azula comes along thinkin she's gonna burn something, and as soon as that little blue flame sparks to life... BOOM!... No more Azula. However I think I'm gonna stick with my idea of vaccuumbending.

Also, since SparkySparkyBOOM!Man doesn't use any martial arts to control his explosions, I don't think it can be considered bending.
