Yes, but it's not the same Higurashi as we all know, it's from the same creator and is called:

Umineko no Naku Koro ni

Plot: ''Umineko no Naku Koro ni takes place in the year 1986, during the time frame of October 4 and October 5 on a secluded island named Rokkenjima (å…è»’å³¶, Rokkenjima?). The head of a wealthy family named Kinzo Ushiromiya, who lives on and owns Rokkenjima, is near death, and eight of his family members arrive on the island to discuss how Kinzo's assets will be divided once he is dead. Also on the island are three family members who live there, five of Kinzo's servants, and his personal physician. After the eight family members arrive, a typhoon traps them on the island and shortly after people start to get mysteriously murdered.''

Genre: Horror/Suspense/Thriller

Like Higurashi, the story is based off it's Manga and (recently released) graphic volume (= Video below)

If this was it I wouldn't be that thrilled, but this will also be produced as an Anime anytime soon! (Air-date has yet to be announced)
It's kind of a Higurashi 2, which takes off with a complete new story.

First episode coming at the end of the second month of 2009

Edit: Opps it seems I was wrong..... According to this video the first episode will be out RAW on the 26th of this month. ^_^
