I hate dubed anime period. Ive never seen dubed deathnote on adult swim. People are just too lazy to read the dam subs i guess.

not nessecarily (omfg i cant spell) some people see it first dubbed and tend to stick with it... it's not a matter of laziness cause im lazy as hell but read the subs anyway. i like both dub and sub (except for Naruto...must watch it subbed)

Subs are fine if the text does not shot passed you! I do like dubs more though, watching in subs is not that bad its just with dubs i get to see the story and not just the text.
I would have read a book if i wanted to read all the writing

I don't really understand why dub vs sub matters. People have their own opinions on things so there won't be a definite answer on whether the anime series/movie is better dubbed or subbed.
What I think the problem is with sub fans who hate dubs ["DUB HATERS"/anti-dubs]is that they want the english voices to sound exactly like the japanese voices. (this applies the other way around too for those who are sub-haters) They are biased because they are sooo used to hearing that paricular voice 'til the point that they block out any other interpretation. "That voice would be the only voice for the character and no other voice who doesn't sound like that voice sucks and doesn't suit that character. I can't imagine the character with any other voice than the japanese/english voice." People forget that each person has a different portrayal of the character. The english voice actors who voices the character(s) have a different portrayal of their character than japanese voice actors doing the same character(s). Usually the version you watch first is the one you like better. (Of course this is not always the case.)
For example: I am so use to hearing the english funimation dubbed of dragon ball z that when I heard the ocean dub, I didn't really liked it. I didn't want to be totally biased so I said it was okay. But of course since I saw the funimation dubbed first, I was used to hearing their funimation voices. The ocean dub voices just seemed foreign to me.
I love to hear others' opinions on dub vs sub of any series. What I don't like is when they post rude comments about either version. Some people just shows no respect for the voice overs and that pisses me off. You should speak your mind without having to be so disrespectful. (This aimed to any anime fan.)

If I had to choose between the dub or sub of death note, I would say I liked the dub version better as well. Of course, I thought Light's, L's, and Mello's voice was phenomenal in japanese, I still really liked their voices in english. They're dubbed voices were of superb quality and I really loved hearing Brad Swaile's role as Light. When I first heard his voice, I was insecure about how he's going to play Light for the rest of the series, since I watched all of the Death Note episodes in subs first before the dub. But his voice really grew on me until it became one of my favorite performances in Death Note (japanese and english combined). I have to admit though that I was really proud of Near's dub voice. Maybe even better than the original japanese voice. Ryuk's and Misa's voice were also better in english. I don't think there were any dub voices who were worse than their original japanese counterpart. But this is only my opinion.
I totally respect the original japanese voices, even though dubs fit me better. So don't bash me because I like the dub better (to any sub fan). I like it better if people would just respect the dub of any series even when they don't like it. I hate it when people complain, bash, and post rude comments of either the dubs or subs. I love to hear others' opinions, but show some respect. |
