well...
If I did we would have to play 3.5, because I havent bought 4th ed yet. Also I would prefer if we played in forgotton realms, just because I know it best.
I do know the rules inside out, but I've never run a play by post game before. I could give it a go if you like. |

i always wanted to, but never found the book with rules and quests in any store
i'll ask by brother if david has it (david runs a shop, full of board/card games anything you could think of.. maybe he has it too)

OK, D&D 3.5 in a nut shell:
It would run essentialy in a similar manner to the other RP threads here, with one small difference: conflict resolution.
D&D provides a dice rolling system to decide whether a character succeeds or fails in a task. This essentialy avoids the traditional childrens problem of "I shot you" "no you didn't, you missed!" "Nu-uuh" "U-huu" etc...
Every character has a "character sheet" which deffines what he can do well, and not so well. If you give me an Idea of what sort of character you want to play, I can knock a sheet up for you quite easily. The setting is a very high magic content in a medieval world with elves, dwarvs, halflings etc. Alternativly if you know 3.5 D&D you can make your own character.
rules are: level 1, abilities are standard 25 point buy,SRD only, level ajust +1 max except on special permission, no Gestalt crap and divine meta magic is BANNED FOR EXTREEM BROKENNESS
Once I've made a character I'll post it here and use it as an example to explain how the dice rolling works. Shall I start with your character Ronin?

while i was sick(still sick though... 40.2 degrees fever(celsius that is...)..ugh) in bed i already thought of a character...
Name: Deen, for a change
Race: lizardman, if that's possible... if it isn't, elf
Class: something like a dragoon, if it's possible, or else something like a spellblade? and if that isn't possible either, i'll take Bandit or ranger (those ought to exist, right?!) _________________

Lizard folk do exist, though they are a monsterous race so people are going to see you and say "Aagh lizard man, RUN!"
They often come as druids, which can be made to work as spell wielding fighter types
Lizard men are very tough, and will seem unusualy powerful at low levels due to their extra racial bonuses. Thats why they have a universal penalty until the other characters catch up.
OK. Here is your character:
Don't freak at all the information, most of it is for me to remember what I did to create it. I'll do all the number crunching so you don't need to worry about it.
Deen
Level 1 Lizard folk Druid
Strength : 16 (+3)
Dexterity: 11 (---)
Constitution: 16 (+3)
Inteligence: 10 (---)
Wisdom: 14 (+2)
Charisma: 8 (-1)
speed: normal
Universal penalty: -2 on all dice roles, not included below
reduced from -3
Armour: 20 (wearing hide armor, 15 without)
wearing armour slows you down to slow an addes -3 penalty to some skills
Hit points: 24
this is insanely high for a level 1 character
Attacks: 3 per round (Natural weapons)
2 claws: +4 to hit, 1d4 +3 damage each.
1 Bite: +2 to hit, 1d4+1 damage
Saves:
Fortitude: +5
Reflex: +3
will: +4
Spells
druids know all the druid spells, and there are too many to list here. Every day however, they must choose in the morning which ones they will have available for the day. I have chosen a set of spells that I think are good for most situations, but just ask at any time and I can look for another combination for a specific purpose.
You have each day: 3 cantrips and 2 level 1 spells.
for example:
cantrips:
Detect magic
Know direction (tells you where north is)
Mending (make minor repairs on an object)
Level 1 spells:
Magic stone (three stones can be thrown as 1d6+1 damage with +1 to attack)
Magic fang (one natural weapon gets +1 to attack and damage)
you may cast each of these once per day.
Trained skills:
Jump: +12
Balance +4
swim +13 (plus you have a special ability: Hold breath twice as long as normal)
survival: +7
Knowledge Nature: +4
Languages:
Common
Draconic
Druidic
feats: Multiattack
you can use all your natural weapons at once
Proficiencies:
simple weapons
natural weapons
druid weapons
medium armour (no metal armour though)
wooden shields
You also have an animal companion, what sort of animal would you like? Lizard men are amphibious, so I was thinking maybe a frog? or a newt?

We need at least one more character before we can start, preferably 2. Perhaps we can tempt hollow back. Its realy not hard. As I said, I'll do all the number crunching. The sheet is mostly for my refference. Higher numbers are always better, and you can compare your character to Ronin's to see how you measure up.
Deen is strong and extreemly tough, and he uses the magic of the land to improve his abilities
His downside however is that his monstrous appearence and genral lack of civilised social skills may cause problems for him interacting with people in many situations. |
